Sunburst Shutters was established in the early '70s in Phoenix, AZ, by people who conceived that they could make a better shutter than any other in the industry.

The goal to be the best shutter company has changed every aspect of the window treatment business. Sunburst offered an in-home consultation where design specialists brought samples into a customer’s home to show them the steps in choosing the best window treatment product. In addition, Sunburst set out to hire sales staff that were courteous and friendly – and, at the same time, skilled and helpful. Homeowners across America fell in love with Sunburst Shutters fast.

In the '70s, draperies and blinds were the common window treatments in most homes. That’s when Sunburst Shutters showed clients a longer lasting and energy-efficient window treatment: plantation shutters. 

Originally, the company offered wood shutters only. But it was instantly obvious that Sunburst should create the ultimate shutter – one that provides maximum energy efficiency, and looks as beautiful 20 years from now as the day you had it installed. After much research, sampling, and testing, Sunburst announced the creation of Polywood Shutters. 

Once Sunburst offered the best shutters on the market, they grew substantially, opening locations across America. In 2008, Sunburst Shutters broadened its collection into blinds, shades, draperies, and window film – and changed its name to Sunburst Shutters & Window Fashions.
